In Indonesia, 3Rs become law...

After years of discussion, the House of Representatives in Jakarta passed a waste management law that advocates the three "Rs" of reuse, recycling and recovery.

Disposal of both household garbage and manufacturing waste are now regulated. The law requires manufacturers to "manage packaging that cannot be recycled by nature, including plastics used for noodle or cosmetic products, styrofoam and diapers." Local governments must close all dumping sites within five years. And residents must now "limit, reduce and manage their own household waste." Penalties range from small fines to imprisonment of up to 15 years.
