With the shift of food producers toward larger pack sizes to reduce handling costs, this presents unique challenges to the inspection industry. The 800XL was designed specifically with input from representatives of the cheese, meat, and poultry industries. It offers the very latest advances in X-ray technology, coupled with the highest levels of accuracy, reliability, safety, and longevity that Loma is reputed for.

The Loma X4 800XL is designed to survive in the toughest environments. The 800XL is constructed of 304 stainless steel in a bead blast finish with easy access panels, and is designed to be easily cleaned and sanitized. The standard IP66 rating allows the machine to be completely washed down and sanitized in compliance with USDA and FDA regulations. Conveyor drive motors and components are oversized to handle the heaviest products found in many food processing operations.

X-ray equipment offers many advantages over standard metal detection. The X4 800XL can easily detect metal, high density plastics, glass, stone, calcified bone, and flavor clumps. The 800XL can also perform detailed product analysis such has measuring the holes inside of cheese, or confirming that loaves of bread are sliced the correct number of times. The X4 can also perform functions such as missing / broken component detection, shape recognition, and over/under filled container analysis.

The X4 800XL uses an intuitive Windows® based interface that can be configured for a variety of languages, product types, and functions. It can store up to 10,000 product profiles in memory, and can transfer product images and reports by USB Flash Drive or via Ethernet connection. By utilizing an intelligent high speed processor, the X4 800XL automatically adjusts the power level of the x-ray tube to achieve optimum performance for the selected product. This prolongs tube life, and reduces energy consumption. This processor also monitors maintenance functions, and will automatically signal an alert when preventative maintenance is required.

The X4 800XL features a unique remote diagnostic feature that allows the machine to be accessed by a customer service representative via the internet. This remote troubleshooting can often eliminate the need for a visit by a Service Technician. The same technology that allows remote troubleshooting also allows the 800XL to be accessed by management to monitor machine performance, download reports, and maintain HAACP compliance.

The Loma Systems X4 800XL will be entering full production in September 2010.
