Cognex Corporation: Sensors identify RSS codes

Cognex Corp.’s (Natick, MA) In-Sight™ vision sensors have the ability to read and verify RSS (reduced space symbology) codes on pharmaceutical packages for the purposes of product identification and traceability.

RSS codes are space-efficient, linear bar codes that are used to mark small “unit-of-use” products that cannot be marked with UPC or standard bar codes. In-Sight vision sensors are high-performance, on-line inspection devices used in a variety of pharmaceutical applications, including optical character verification, 2D code reading, blister pack inspection, and label and safety seal inspection.
