COMPANIES:Hassia USA combined all of its sales and service organizations under the new corporate name, IWKA Packaging USA.

Baldor Electric Co. completed construction on its new 350,000 sq' motor manufacturing plant in Columbus, MS. Baldor also completed the expansion of its Oshkosh, WI, generator plant.

Markem will be acquired by Dover Corp. As part of the agreement, Markem will retain its company name and remain in Keene, NH.

Fogg Filler is celebrating its 50th year in the filling industry.

Treofan Group will invest approximately $45 million to expand its North American plant in Zacapu, Mexico, which will include a new state-of-the-art 8.2-meter high-speed production line.

ThingMagic, Inc., developer of RFID
technology, will partner with Sato America, a manufacturer  of bar-code printing,
labeling, and EPC/RFID solutions.

Captive Plastics, Inc.[n], manufacturer of blow-molded plastic bottles and closures, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire [b]Grafco PET Packaging Technologies[n], a supplier of PET rigid containers.

Field Container Co., LP[n] signed an agreement to combine its business with [b]Altivity Packaging[n].

Rexam[n] will build a second beverage can making plant in Russia as well as a new can end making plant in Brazil.

American FlexPack[n] announced a major plant expansion and a move to a new facility in Green Bay, WI.

Interests Group Sercos interface e. V.[n] changed the name of the association to [b]Sercos International[n].

Interphex[n] announced that the winner of the event's third-annual MINI Cooper Sweepstakes, Tom Abraham, is donating a portion of his cash money to [b]Samaritans of New York, Inc.[n]

Squid Ink Manufacturing, Inc.[n] announced an international expansion with a fluids manufacturing and equipment repair facility in China.

International Paper[n] relocated its global headquarters to Memphis, TN from Stamford, CT.

FEMC[n] announced the appointment of [b]Pemberton and Associates Inc.[n] as FEMC's exclusive agent for Canada.

Treofan Group[n] announced that it was close to doubling its BOPP film manufacturing capacity at its North American plant in Zacapu, Mexico.

B&H Labeling Systems[n] expanded its Mexico operation, [b]B H Labeling Mexico S. de R . L . de C . V. as a full-service provider.

BPC Holding Corp.[n] and the private equity firms [b]Apollo Management L.P.[n], and [b]Graham Partners[n] announced that they have signed a definitive agreement for the sponsors to acquire [b]BPC Holding Corp.[n]

Pearson Packaging Systems[n] entered into a multi-year strategic alliance with [b]W.E. Plemons Machinery Services[n], a supplier of tray and bliss formats.

Michelman[n], a global manufacturer of performance enhancing coatings, acquired [b]Fischer Pro, Inc.[n]

PEOPLE:

DS Containers named Emil Obradovich vice president of sales, marketing, and
technical support.

Rovema Packaging Machines appointed Dennis Winberry regional sales manager, Northeast territory and Paul Bibens
supervisor for spare parts and conversions.

Gary Ehmka, Arpac Group's national sales manager, will take on the added responsibility of managing the sales distributor program for the entire Arpac Group product line in the western region. Fernando Ferreira, western regional sales manager, will report directly to Ehmka.

Lowry Computer Products hired Jeffrey Tazelaar as RFID product manager.

Nordson Corp. made the following executive appointments: Jeff  Pembroke, vice president sales and marketing, Adhesive Dispensing and Nonwovens Fiber Systems; James DeVries, senior vice president operations, Adhesive Dispensing and Nonwovens  Fiber Systems; and Charles Waychoff, senior manager, Packaging and Product Assembly Sales and Service North America.

R. A. Jones & Co. appointed Dale Patterson national account manager for Canada.

Appleton appointed Ladd Zigman account manager and S. Anthony Pace process engineer for its Performance Packaging Div.

Handling Solutions, was elected to vice president of administration for the Chicago Chapter of IoPP.

Karl Post was named senior manager, customer development for Eastman Kodak's Graphic Communications Group.

DataLase appointed Robert Sayer project leader for the company's “on product” edible marking solution directly on foodstuffs.

Jamie Hart was appointed eastern regional sales manager for Parson-Eagle Packaging Systems.

Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering Co., Inc. appointed German Laverde director of new business development and Scott MacDonald manager of marketing and communications.

All-Pak, Inc. appointed Doug Jacobs Global Supply Division sales manager and Kristin Yakulis national account manager, Custom Solutions.

Anthony Ahmed was promoted to product manager, Packaging Product Line, Mocon, Inc.

Bekum America Corp. made the following corporate appointments: Martin Stark, chief executive officer; Steve London, executive vice president and chief operating officer; Gary Carr, national sales director; and Peter Bogrett, director of materials.

Mettler Toledo Hi Speed promoted John Uber to business development manager for product handling and caseweighing, and Mark Feher as business development manager for checkweighing.

Surefil LLC. filled the following positions: Tim Butcher, plant manager; Jeff Bevis, chief engineer; Martin Chism, purchasing auditor; and Bob Gordon, quality assurance laboratory manager.

Owens-Illinois, Inc. appointed Kevin Stevens as chief marketing officer.

Multivac, Inc. announced the appointment of Bill Gardner as eastern regional service supervisor and John Hofer as western regional service supervisor.
