Baldor Electric's (Fort Smith, AR) new multipurpose dynamic brake is said to be the first that is microprocessor-based. This allows each brake to have four operating modes, two separate magnitudes of braking, the ability to jog with or without braking, 50 to 60 Hz operation and an accurate zero speed sensor.

Permits braking only after the voltage in the motor reaches a safe level, eliminating potential current surges that could blow fuses and welded contacts.
