PSI announces North American footprint changes

Plastic Suppliers, Inc. (PSI) is proceeding with plans to optimize its operational footprint.

By the end of January 2018, the Dallas, TX and Fullerton, CA locations will be closed and operations will be centralized at PSI’s Columbus, OH headquarter location. Columbus will continue to service a wide variety of specialty packaging and industrial films for PSI’s North American customer base including manufactured, converted, and distributed product lines.

"Business decisions impacting the livelihood of our employees are extremely difficult," said George Thomas, President and CEO at PSI. "This move reflects a disciplined effort to enhance operational efficiencies and directly supports our sustainable growth activities.”

PSI is actively working with appropriate government agencies, communities, and their employees to make as positive a transition as is possible, including providing separation pay and other benefits.

Footprint optimization also takes the form of upgrading and expanding the Columbus, OH and Ghent, Belgium manufacturing sites directly supporting growth in manufactured products. PSI is strengthening its existing business in core markets, increasing growth in developing and emerging markets, and driving increased value-added innovation. PSI flexible film innovations include EarthFirst® compostable sealants, EarthFirst® compostable shrink sleeve films, and PolyFlex® shrink sleeve packaging and labeling product lines.

“PSI has an increasing business need to better align our assets with marketplace trends and customer demand,” noted Thomas. “To that end, we are taking action to ensure our manufacturing network is operating the right number of plants and production lines—in the right locations—to best meet the current and future needs of our customers.”
