Pharmavite LLC, Mission Hills, CA, has licensed the Olay brand name and logos from Procter & Gamble.
“The NutraFlapper closure allows us to offer consumers a simple, easy-to-use dispensing solution for tablets and soft gels,” says Dan Murphy, Pharmavite’s manager of packaging development. The injection-molded polypropylene flip-top dispensing closures are metallic gold in color.
“Using the gold cap on Olay vitamins provides a [visual] link to Olay skin care,” adds Murphy. “Weatherchem was instrumental in bringing to the line a custom, easy-to-peel innerseal printed with the Olay name.”
The closures are used on all but two of the 15 Olay supplements, says Barbara Lindquist, Pharmavite’s senior product manager. She says the closures top either HDPE, PP, or PET bottles. Tricor Braun, a Weatherchem partner, distributes closures to Pharmavite. Individual bottles carry between 30 and 120 tablets or soft gels, retailing nationwide for $7.99 to $24.99, at food, drug, mass merchandising, and club-store outlets.
“What we like about this closure is that it’s very consumer-friendly. It allows for easy dispensing of the product,” says Lindquist. “They’ve been well received by consumers.”
