WLS, a ProMach product brand, introduces their device stabilizer for injector pens on rotary labelers at PACK EXPO International 2024 in Booth W-16017. This patent-pending solution prevents the pen from inadvertently activating during labeling by diverting axial force. Eliminating the need for specialized ‘active’ pucks to hold the pens in place, the device stabilizer helps medical device manufacturers and packers increase efficiency and improve profitability.

Our new device stabilizer comes at the perfect time,” said Adam Rosenthal, Director of Sales and Marketing at WLS. "Traditionally, non-cylindrical injector pens that are activated by applying axial force would need to be labeled on rotary systems with specialized pucks that grip the bottom sides of the pen to avoid activating them – however, these specialized pucks are expensive and the packer would need a large collection of them. Now, with our new device stabilizer, we’re providing customers with a unique approach to safely support the pens while eliminating the need for specialized pucks, achieving substantial cost savings.”

When equipped with the new device stabilizer, each station of the rotary labeler features two prongs that hold the pens in place during labeling. Pens enter the labeler in standard pucks and the device stabilizer extends the two prongs to hold the pen at the top of the pen’s window, effectively bearing the axial force and preventing the pen from activating. This innovative design ensures the pen remains stable throughout the high-speed labeling process without damage to the device.

Compatible with both the RL-420 and RL-760 rotary labeling machines from WLS, the device stabilizer can be installed on new systems or retrofit on existing systems in the field. The RL-420 is capable of labeling injector pens at speeds up to 300 PPM while the RL-760 can label pens at speeds up to 500 PPM.

For manufacturers and packers with injector pens that are fully or partially cylindrical, the VR-72 and HR labelers from WLS are also effective.
