The announcement follows the completion of a 30,000 sq. ft. expansion, which is part of a larger development plan that, when complete, will span over 180,000 sq. ft.—making Morris Packaging's Converting Division one of the largest in capacity and providing it the capability to become a leader of flexible packaging in the United States.
The high-tech packaging facility, which started as a greenfield operation in 2014, has invested millions in state-of-the-art production technology and most recently, new machinery for press, lamination and converting capabilities. The division’s new assets will enhance Morris Packaging's abilities to better serve existing and new customers' needs in high-performance flexographic printing and creative flexible packaging, while becoming one of most innovative and fastest-growing convertors in the country.
The introduction of the 750SGBS Pouch Machine efficiently produces side gusseted pouches from a single web with precise seal control and can be equipped to produce pouches with Inno-Lok®, Pour & Lok™, and Zip360™ reclosable features.
The B&B - MAF side gusseted bag machine SFB 8E –L is especially designed for the production of high-quality side gusseted bags. The machine offers a simplified process for packaging of a broad range of reclosable systems, and provides solutions for a wide variety of functional auxiliary features at the bag head, such as handles, easy-opening devices or reclosable systems.
Morris Converting began operations three years ago with nine employees and due to increase in product demand, introduced 24-hour shifts in 2016; now employing 76. The expansion will result in approximately 15-20 additional employment opportunities. Morris credits much of the operation's current success and future growth to the outstanding workforce in Central Missouri, which has created a platform for dramatic sales growth.
Estimated completion of expansion and installation is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.
