Bone health in a juice bottle

In July 2008, Cincinnati-based Elations Co., began national rollout of its line of juice-based dietary supplement drinks in 8-oz Heat-Tek® PET bottles from Ball Corp. (www.ball.com).

Pw 6271 Elations

The unbreakable, recyclable Heat-Tek bottles are suitable for juices, teas, sports drinks, enriched waters, or any other beverages filled at 185°F.

Elations needed a heat-set bottle that could run successfully on a high-speed hot-filling line at contract packer Krier Foods, Random Lake, WI (920/994-2469). Krier uses an 80-valve filler from U.S. Bottlers (www.usbottlers.com), a 24-head Fowler/Zalkin rotary capper from Fowler Products Co. (www.fowler products.com), and a cut-and-stack, 30-station labeler from Krones, Inc. (www.kronesusa.com). The line runs at approximately 700 bpm.
