Steam tunnel with generator

NEWS FROM PACK EXPO: PDC Europe (Austin, TX) offers what it claims is the first steam shrink tunnel with its own built-in steam generator. The 3.6’-long x 3.6’-deep TGV-1000 electric steam generator offers variable power rating from 49 to 60 kW and is designed for locations where a steam source is problematic.

System also includes a water softener, temperature indicator, steam extraction motor, and condensate collection tray.

The unit features steam nozzles that are easily adjustable to put the shrink where it is needed on even containers of complex geometries. The first installation for the system occurred three months ago in France where it is used to obtain tight shrinkage of a full-body sleeve label applied over a shaped ketchup bottle. Rates at 130 sleeved bottles/min.
