The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM), which establishes and enforces uniform weights and measures regulations, voted to remove current container restrictions on fluid milk products, cultured products and frozen desserts. These products can now be sold in any container size provided the product is appropriately labeled. The change in regulations does not apply to frozen novelties, cheese and cheese products. There is one big hitch. The changes in the regulations must be adopted on a state-by-state basis, so companies wishing to market a "new" container size need to check with state officials to make sure it is allowed.
Pack size restrictions dropped
Thanks to a change in the uniform weights and measures regulations for dairy products, processors have new opportunities for marketing their products.
