Automated Case Erector and Sealing Equipment

At PACK EXPO International, A-B-C Packaging Machine Corp. demonstrated its case erectors and sealing machines for hot melt and adhesive tape closures.

During PACK EXPO 2022, ABC Packaging Machine showcased its new line of case directors and sealers, highlighting several key features designed to improve operational efficiency and ease of maintenance. Mark Antonio, representing the company, provided a comprehensive overview of the machines, focusing on their user-friendly design, speed capabilities, and the integration of standardized parts to ensure longevity and ease of repair.

Antonio began by detailing the case erectors' functionality, noting, "Our case erectors all feature a low-level magazine so that your operators don't have to lift the cases high to feed them into the magazine. Our case erectors run from 15 cases per minute on up to 50 cases per minute." He emphasized the precision of the glue application process, facilitated by a thousand count encoder, ensuring accurate glue amounts for reliable case assembly.

The machines' design incorporates comprehensive control systems by Allen Bradley, including servo motors and control systems, ensuring high reliability and ease of integration into existing manufacturing environments. "All of our case erectors feature Allen Bradley full controls when they're servo. It's an Allen Bradley Servo and Allen Bradley control system," Antonio explained, highlighting the industry-standard components used throughout the machinery.

In addition to operational efficiency, ABC Packaging Machine places a strong emphasis on safety and customization. Antonio pointed out, "We're available in CAT two safety or category three or PLD safety features. Based on your plant specifications, we can separate high and low voltage within the panel for you." This flexibility allows companies to tailor the machinery to their specific plant requirements and safety standards.

Another significant advantage of ABC's machinery is the use of non-proprietary parts. Antonio stressed the importance of this feature, saying, "All parts are that are used in our case directors are either made at ABC or they are off the shelf parts. So years down the road when something needs to be replaced, you go right down the block to your local supply house and get parts to replace-- no proprietary parts used." This approach significantly reduces downtime and maintenance costs over the machine's lifespan.

The presentation also covered the ABC model 436 case sealer, capable of handling both hot melt and tape seal applications. This machine offers versatility through its PLC-driven operation, standard HMI, and variable speed capabilities, making it suitable for a wide range of packaging needs. "This unit is available for speeds up to 85 cases per minute in hot melt and up to 45 cases a minute in tape," Antonio concluded, showcasing the machine's high throughput potential.

ABC Packaging Machine's latest offerings at PACK EXPO 2022 represent a significant step forward in case packaging technology. With a focus on ease of use, flexibility, and maintenance-friendly design, these machines are poised to meet the evolving needs of the packaging industry, ensuring that companies can maintain high efficiency and safety standards in their operations.
