American Excelsior celebrates 125th Anniversary

American Excelsior Company whose roots are in manufacturing excelsior—thin strands of wood fiber that were originally used for cushioning and filtration purposes—is celebrating its 125th Anniversary.

The company attributes its success to the dedication of their associates and the continued innovation of their products.
The company is still one of the major manufacturers in the world of excelsior.

Today, many people know American Excelsior for their innovative erosion and sediment control, packaging, flexible foam, and evaporative cooling products.

The company has an entire Flexible Foam Division, and is one of the largest fabricators/molders in the country.  As the company has innovated applications for foam products, it never lost sight of its core product (excelsior). Two new applications for this unique and all-natural product emerged over the years: evaporative cooling pads and erosion control.

The Flexible Foam Division of American Excelsior Company continues to grow, and like wood products, it too has found new ways to innovate their products and processes.

Over the course of its history, the company has continued to acquire other excelsior plants along with opening additional foam fabrication plants, giving them a national footprint. In 1976, American Excelsior Company became an employee-owned company (ESOP Company).

American Excelsior Company is headquartered in Arlington, TX, has a total of seven manufacturing locations and over 350 associates that continue to innovate and look for ways to assure their history of success continues.
