ROBOTICS ORDERS POST STRONG GAINS

According to Robotic Industries Assn., North American-based robotics companies posted new order gains of 34% in the first half of 2003. During that time, companies in that region ordered 7ꯥ robots valued at $446.2 million.

Another 211 robots valued at $19.5 million were ordered from North American robotics suppliers by manufacturers outside this region. The figures represented gains of 34% in units and 15% in dollars over the first half of 2002. Leading the way for these orders were applications involving spot welding and material handling. Increased demand for robots was seen in food and beverage, consumer goods, and plastics applications. For details, call RIA at 734/994-6088, or visit www.roboticsonline.com.
