PDC International Corp.’s 90-Series shrink sealer performs with efficiency at high speeds on small, difficult-to-handle bottles. Engineered for continuous, high-speed production lines running 200 to more than 400 cartons/min, depending on sleeve height and diameter. The new 90-E TSCB model features special product handling; a timing screw transfers small bottles into a cleated belt. This provides stability during neck band application and preshrinking in position for consistent band placement and functionality.

The 90-Series uses three important technologies:

• A zero-downtime automatic reel changeover feature that allows an operator to load a second reel of material without stopping (or slowing) production. The system detects when the initial reel is expended and automatically engages the new reel.

• Tetrahedron Wedge technology. PDC’s patented technology positively delivers sleeving film through the feeding, cutting, and application process, performing at high operating efficiencies demanded by the pharmaceutical and food industries.

• Patented blade assemblies manufactured from severe-service tool steels with excellent hardness and edge profile. PDC blades can be resharpened and most are double-edged. Double-edged blades are reversible, so a single set provides double the value, and both edges can be repeatedly resharpened. PDC blade assemblies are compatible with all major sleeving and labeling films, including thin-gauge material (30 to 50 µm, depending on speed, cap configuration, and material characteristics).

Other features of the new 90-Series include full safety enclosure, heavy duty construction, Allen-Bradley PLC, a touchscreen HMI, keyed run/jog switch, and upstream photo eyes. Systems can be configured with vision systems, barcode scanners, vertical and horizontal perforators, imprinters, motorized height adjustment, shrink tunnels, and conveyors.
