Aphena Pharma Solutions Inc. acquires Classic Pharmaceuticals

PHILADELPHIA, PA., August 8, 2012 -- Philadelphia-based Aphena Pharma Solutions Inc., a leading pharmaceutical packaging provider in the U.S., recently acquired Classic Pharmaceuticals LLC.

Classic Pharmaceuticals LLC is a manufacturer and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC), private-label pharmaceuticals to blue-chip drug (Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS) and retail (Kroger, Wal-Mart, and Dollar General) stores and distributors throughout the United States. The company's products are sold in more than 16,000 major drugstores nationwide, plus a wide range of independent pharmacies and other non-pharmacy locations.

Headquartered in Sherburne, New York, Classic currently manufactures two OTC private-label products — a nasal inhaler for the relief of cold and flu symptoms and a chocolated laxative. Both products are currently manufactured and packaged at the company's facility in New York.

"Aphena is pleased to make this strategic acquisition — of a small and growing private-label company — bringing us two very solid products and providing them to our current customer base as additional private-labeling opportunities," said Renard Jackson, President & CEO for Aphena. "Bringing new products such as these into the mix will enhance our private-label business, drive revenue and expand capabilities in our liquids and topicals division."

Aphena Pharma Solutions Inc. is an industry-leading organization providing turnkey contract packaging, repackaging and manufacturing solutions for the pharmaceutical, OTC, dietary supplements, animal health, health and beauty, consumer health and medical device markets.
