Maple Leaf Foods’ wholly owned subsidiary Greenleaf Foods will be increasing its tempeh production capacity by buying and building out a 118,000-sq-ft Indianapolis, Ind. food processing plant at a cost of approximately $100 million. The acquisition is expected to close in early April, after which tempeh production equipment with an initial capacity of approximately 4.5 million kilograms will be installed. Production at the plant is projected to begin in the first half of next year. When fully operational, the facility is expected to employ about 115 people.
