A newly installed Titan SR8 slitter/rewinder from Bobst Group (www.bobst.com) has increased slitting speeds and is producing larger roll sizes to meet growing customer demands at the Minneapolis facility of Ampac Flexibles (www.ampaconline.com), the flexible packaging division of Ampac Packaging LLC.
The facility produces printed laminates, rollstock, and pouches used primarily in food and consumer products markets, as well as in healthcare packaging.
The Titan SR8 operates at up to 700 m/min, with a semi-automatic unloading system, laser core positioning, and quick changeover.
“The new equipment has significantly upgraded our slitting capabilities and provides added product flexibility,” says Joe Buchanon, general manager, Ampac Flexibles Global Pouching. “We’re pleased with the new technology, advanced features, and improved output speeds.”
Sal Pellingra, innovation and marketing director of Ampac Flexibles adds, “The new Titan slitter allows us to continue building on our growth strategy of addressing customer needs and requirements by making strategic investments in our production facilities. The improved output and efficiency also creates less waste and uses fewer resources, meeting our goals to continually reduce the impact on the local environments where we manufacture.”
