Business and industry are organizing to fight the proposed ergonomics standard published on Nov. 23, 1999, by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

This standard is deemed by some as the most expensive rule ever proposed by the federal government. Many of the proposed rules focus on tasks that require lifting. The interpretation of these rules could dictate changes in the size and weight of packages.
