Almost 300,000 new products/packages launched in 2009

US, Japan and UK followed by Brazil in 4th place for new product introductions.

According to Anton Steeman’s blog, Best In Packaging, 274,273 new products (and subsequently packages) were rolled out in 2009. “…this is 22,856 packages per month, 761 per day or 32 per hour.”

That’s a lot of packages. The United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom topped the list of countries introducing new products. Interestingly enough, Brazil ranked in 4th place, “…with companies like Unilever, Carrefour, Nestlé, Avon, Wal-Mart and Kraft Foods launching the bulk of the Brazilian novelties.”
