Labels that track the temperatures your wine encounters on its way to your table can ensure you're getting the taste you desire. The PakSense shipping label is the size of a sugar packet, and has been used by the food industry. "Cooked cabernet" is not desirable, of course, and information recorded by the label can be downloaded into a computer, letting wineries track their shipments to the shelves, helping them put their best wine forward. California wines shipped as far as Denmark have reported back the quality of the wine based on the quality of the weather. Consumers who order high-end wine by the case can pay just $20 for the label to be included on their shipment—a small price to pay to guarantee the quality of an expensive wine.
"Smart packaging" tells you if your wine is hot. . .
