Eat less to reduce consumption--of fossil fuel...

The packaged food market in the US earned $317 billion in 2007.

So when researchers recently suggested that Americans eat less to save on coal/oil consumption, some of these manufacturers probably balked. Replacing junk food with "real" food such as "potatoes, rice, fruit and vegetables would make a significant contribution to the energy story," the study claims. Sourcing food locally would also help curb the consumption of energy. The health benefits wouldn't be half bad, either.
