General Mills increases support for schools

After donating nearly $20 million to elementary schools in 2001, General Mills, Minneapolis, has announced plans to double the size of the program for the current school year.

Its Box Tops for Education fundraising program will double the amount of money each school can receive, from $30ꯠ to $60ꯠ. More than 71ꯠ schools participate nationally. In addition, General Mills will more than double the number of participating brands to 800. In its seventh year, the program has donated nearly $70 million, and allows schools to use the money for what the children need in their community. For details, see www.boxtops4education.com.
