Panasonic is one marketer of audio-visual products that understands the passion building up in consumers as they walk down the aisles in this department of the store. When Panasonic in Europe debuted its RP-HJE 130 Stereo Earphones, shown on designscene.com, it understood that the product selection in this category is plentiful, and the products often are interchangeable.
Panasonic wanted to market the benefit of quality sound in the earphones, and the company worked with Berlin package design firm Scholz & Friends to create the right package. The earphones come in what appears to be a clear-plastic case that makes the product the star. The black earphones rest on a white base, and the earphones are positioned to resemble two eighth notes. Above the earphones are three simple words that say it all: Made for music.
How can the pick-up power of this Apple-esque package not dazzle music lovers enough for them to dance on over to the store and head for the earphones aisle?
