Coveris, the world’s sixth largest plastic packaging solutions provider, recently introduced new products for meat and poultry derivatives, delicatessen products, offal, giblets, and ready meals.
At IFFA 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany, Coveris’ stand displayed both established and new product ranges that include shrink films, trays, labels, ovenable packs, and the DuoSmart and ReadyFresh solutions. One of Coveris’ latest packaging innovations is the Reclose versus Mono PET.
The Reclose versus Mono PET combines a resealable lid film on a PET bottom tray. This facilitates not only overall handling but also prolongs overall product freshness. This particular packaging solution is at least ten times resealable and at the same time highly sustainable, as the top and bottom components are both recyclable. Since all functionality lies within the top film, manufacturing is both easy and cost-effective. The bottom component consists of PET with no additional lamination needed.
Coveris’ Rigid Division showcased its broad meat tray range consisting of regular and lightweight PP and PET/PE trays with optional multi-compartments, absorption pads, and high quality lamination decoration. The trays allow for appealing product display and stand for longstanding durability and impact resistance. The new ovenable tray range is even suitable for hot meat meals preparation. In addition, thanks to the PP/EVOH/PP high barrier films used, the trays support extended shelf life and safe product presentation, which is particularly important for products such as meat.
Another solution presented at the fair will be DuoSmart, which combines the best of paper and plastic in one cup. The DuoSmart containers protect their contents, particularly the nutritional value, natural colors, and taste. The removable cardboard wrap provides space on the inside and outside that can be used for numerous designs, product information and promotional messages. With a flat, dome, or sealable/peelable/reclosable lid, the DuoSmart cup is the ideal solution for takeaway meat snacks.
And finally, the ReadyFresh innovation is a comprehensive tray range from the Rigid Division of Coveris. ReadyFresh allows for both home meal replacement and food on-the-go services, being ideal for hot or cold meat.
