FOODSERVICE PACKAGING DEMAND LOOKS HEALTHY

Rising disposable personal income will fuel the growth of food eaten away from home, stimulating U.S. demand for foodservice packaging to $7.6 billion in 2008.

That represents a growth rate exceeding 4% per year from now until 2008. The figures come from The Freedonia Group’s new study Foodservice Packaging: Bulk & Portion Control. Bags and sacks are expected to remain the dominant flexible packaging format for packaging sold to foodservice businesses. While rigid foodservice demand is expected to trail the industry average, above-average gains are forecasted for corrugated boxes and plastic containers. The 230-page study is available for $3꽤 through www.freedoniagroup.com, or by calling 440/684-9600.
