In 2009, the number of new products launched in
the Middle East and Africa grew substantially. According to Mintel,
non-alcoholic beverages, sauces and seasoning, baked goods and dairy all
had strong numbers. Flexible packaging is still the package of choice
for the new products—used for more that twice as many new products as
was its next competitor, bottles. What were some of the new products
introduced? In Morocco, a pore cleansing face rub; whipping cream in
Israel; soap in Saudi Arabia; and toffees in Egypt.
