Technical printing techniques benefit Advil's carton

For its new fast-acting Advil® Film Coated Tablets, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare enlisted Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, to produce premium packaging that employs technical printing techniques.

The product is formulated with a unique Advil Ion Core™ technology and an ultra-thin shell to absorb quickly and work faster for headaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, back pain, and aches and pains associated with the common cold.

The design elements created by the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Package Design and Development Team drew on Clondalkin’s technical expertise in Puerto Rico by incorporating a unique soft-touch matte varnish, UV high gloss, foil stamping, printed foil, and embossing on the carton.

Kevin Kenjarski, Clondalkin VP of Sales and Marketing, says, “As Pfizer Consumer Healthcare was launching the new Advil product line, it was important that the packaging also be unique. We were pleased to offer a design that was not only visually appealing but also provided a tactile feel that differentiated the packaging.”

Clondalkin worked closely with the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Package Design and Development Team to ensure that the printed features worked in harmony with the design. Innovative techniques such as introducing a transparent blue ink to the foil-blocked area helped to build a premium feel to the packaging.
