Pharmaceutical contract manufacturer and packager Pharma Tech Industries (PTI), has added a Ropak Stik Pak 10-up S/N 307 machine to form, crimp, fill, and seal stick packs.

The new capability allows PTI to offer its customers stick packs, which deliver ease of opening and dispensing, portability, and the convenience and accuracy of single-dose dispensing. The Ropak Stik Pak 10-up S/N 307 produces up to 600 stick packs/min across 10 lanes, and features in-line collation and cartoning capabilities. The machine can produce several products with the same tooling and offers multiple-axis control.

The machine features servo-driven continuous motion to monitor--and perpetually adjust to any deviations from expected behavior, as well as servo-driven dosers with on-screen fill weight changes. An adjustable dosing system allows operators to change the dosing-specific tooling without additional, non-related tools. A color touchscreen console displays product recipes, defines operating parameters, and allows for full system control, and cleaning is designed to be quick.

“Stick packs are one of the fastest-growing packaging solutions in the over-the-counter pharmaceutical market, and this new equipment allows our customers to capitalize on this,” says Tee Noland, PTI’s director of business development. “As our menu of capabilities continues to expand, we can increasingly offer a contract manufacturing service capable of taking products from development to commercial production.”

PTI serves more than a dozen clients in two cGMP facilities located in Royston, GA, and Union, MO, and produces in excess of 300 SKUs of powders, effervescent, and solid-dose products, as well as cotton swabs and injection molded components.
