The sleeve is made on a series of motorized mandrels through the use of vacuum technology, and is sealed with a laser source controlled by a high-speed scanner. The welded sleeve is then applied to the container below, which is then carried through the steam tunnel. The machine can accommodate a range of materials, including PETG, OPS, PO, PVC, and PLA, operating at speeds to 50,000 bottles/hr. Among the advantages of the system versus off-line TDO labels are higher productivity, no tubulation costs, more labels per roll, and a total applied cost of 20% less. Labeling modules that can be added to the Formsleeve+ include roll-fed, cut-and-stack, self-adhesive, and cold-glue.
