A “press here” violator on the front panel points to a cutout section with a red button and a lenticular image of the oven. The image shows heating arrows that indicate how the heating process works; the arrows appear to move when your eye position changes. Pushing the button activates a 10-second product message from a speaker (at least 11¼2’’ wide) behind a star-shaped cutout. Pushing the button also causes the image to vibrate, which sets the lenticular imagery into movie-like motion.
These interactive components are housed together in a flat 33¼4”x5’’ plastic pack secured behind the die cuts on the inside of the box using pressure-sensitive tape.
Almost lost in the high-tech shadow is a fifth panel that overlaps 3¼4 of the box front. Secured with a Velcro-style device, the flap folds open to reveal a panel printed with color graphics showcasing key oven attributes such as flexible controls, cooking versatility, and easy clean up. PW was unable to reach Euro-Pro for packaging details. The oven shown was purchased at a Chicagoland Target store for $50. —Rick Lingle
