Sonoco inks services contract with Lego Group

Sonoco (www.sonoco.com) has signed a five-year agreement with the Lego Group, Billund, Denmark, to supply packaging services for educational products to the family-owned manufacturer of children's play materials.

“One of Sonoco's specialties is small-batch series and multiple tool changes,” says Niels Duedahl, vice president of the Lego Group, in explaining Sonoco's selection.

For Sonoco's part, the agreement further expands its range of packaging services in Europe and establishes a firmer market position in packaging services for leading brand owners. Lego is one of the world's leading manufacturers of play materials for children.

Sonoco will establish a new service center in Lodz, Poland. Together with its existing service center in Lodz, Sonoco will offer a base of packaging services that allows for further expansion in the region, says Charles Sullivan, Sonoco executive vice president, Global Consumer Packaging and Services.
