Aveda began the program by asking its employees and their families to bring in caps for recycling. Then earlier this year the company ran a promotion that gave away free samples to customers who brought in 25 caps or more. The hard plastic caps and closures Aveda collects through its stores, in salons, and in schools, are recycled into new caps and containers. The program was originally brought to life by public schools in New York.
