MG America, the U.S. subsidiary of MG2 of Bologna, Italy launched its new AlterNova Capsule Filler. Specially designed to be flexible so that growing companies can easily increase production or change product forms and sizes, the AlterNova is the only intermittent motion capsule filler with a basic output of 105,000 capsules per hour that can be efficiently upgraded to speeds up to 180,000 capsules per hour.

The AlterNova can dose any oral pharmaceutical form – solid or liquid – and can combine up to four different kinds of products into the same capsule.  The machine uses a tamping disc to fill powders, and also can fill pellets, tablets, liquids, and various combinations of all four forms.  At Interphex, the AlterNova will be set up for powder filling with statistical weight control at an output of 105,000 capsules per hour.

Features on the AlterNova include a touch-screen human-machine interface (HMI); PLC for machine functions control; motorized adjustment of machine speed from the monitor; HMI visualization of obstruction in the capsule feeding tube; and powder excessive compression check with HMI visualization to indicate the relevant station.

The capsule filler’s innovative dosing chamber can be quickly and easily adjusted without the need to replace parts, allowing for ease of operation, changeovers and maintenance.  Options such as a vacuum cleaner, dry vacuum pump, stainless steel product recovery canister, and motorized dosing chamber adjustment also are available.
