SpanTech, LLC in Glasgow, Kentucky, has introduced the MicroSpan Transfer as an alternative to roller transfers. This powered transfer features a tight-knit MicroSpan chain, providing a stable and flexible base for the transport of even small, delicate items. It maintains product orientation and has a maximum speed of 140 feet per minute. The stainless steel construction, in conjunction with the MicroSpan plastic chain, is ideal for washdown applications, and can be either slave-driven by another conveyor or independently driven. Both ends of the transfer have a profile height of just 14 mm (.55 inch), so smooth transfers are assured. And because it is sprocket-driven, there are no tracking problems as with standard belt-type conveyors. Multiple chain widths are available for a variety of applications. SpanTech, LLC, founded in 1978 by James L. “Bud” Layne, manufactures the Designer System - SpanTech’s proprietary custom design conveyor line - and the WhisperTrax Modular Flexible Conveyor line. Designer System conveyors are USDA approved and BISSC certified. SpanTech Designer System and WhisperTrax conveyors are presently in use in facilities around the world. Large portions of original chain are still running on conveyors that have operated six days a week for years, even in areas with high levels of contaminants.
