Three heads are better than one for Danish wine bottler

Danish bulk wine supply chain specialist Skanvin provides bottling and supply chain distribution of wine throughout all of Scandinavia. Recently it secured a deal with Australia-based Treasury Wine Estates, one of the world’s largest wine companies. To accommodate the winemaker’s need for a bag-in-box solution for Scandinavian and select European markets, Skanvin installed a new triple-head automatic filling line from Smurfit Kappa. Its requirements for the machine: efficiency and reliability with high-speed filling capability.

The new machine fills 45 3-L Bag-in-Box® containers per minute. Says Smurfit Kappa, it has also been designed to minimize oxygen being picked up during the filling process to guarantee an “excellent” shelf life for the wine. The full line includes a wraparound case erector, a box closer, and a Vitop handle inserter, all supplied by Smurfit Kappa.

Says Thierry Minaud, CEO of the Smurft Kappa Bag-in-Box division, “It was a pleasure collaborating with Skanvin to provide a solution that meets its high quality standard and strengthens its capabilities.”
