Klöckner's Intertrans Carrier Company becomes V3-Certified for veteran hiring

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services recognized Intertrans Carrier as a leader in the state.

Intertrans Carrier Company, a division of Klöckner Pentaplast Group, has become a “V3-Certified Company,” joining nearly 370 large and small businesses across the Commonwealth of Virginia who are committed to hiring veterans. John Swales, V3 Operations Coordinator with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) in Richmond, VA, shared the certificate with the ICC team in November.

According to the DVS, Virginia has a unique opportunity in that it has the youngest veteran population in the U.S. and the fastest growing veteran labor force in the U.S. Thousands of new veterans enter Virginia’s workforce each year, and that number is projected to rise in the coming years.

Willie Cantrell, ICC Safety Manager states: “Virginia has the second largest veteran population transitioning into the private market. Many of these veterans have been certified through the military to drive combination vehicles and Governor McAuliffe has made it possible for them to transition from a military license to a CDL license through the V3 Program. The V3 Program supports our company’s strategy by introducing us to qualified individuals seeking long-term employment in the private sector after completing their military obligations.”

Since the execution of the initial concept in 2012, the V3 Program has grown to reach hundreds of companies, who have pledged over 13,000 jobs to veterans, resulting in over 10,000 actual hires reported so far. With their commitment, Intertrans Carrier Company solidifies the mission of learning about and serving Virginia's Veterans, and improving the economy of the Commonwealth.
