More nutrition info on beverage cans

The Food and Drug Administration wants food manufacturers to revise the Nutrition Facts panel on package labels of products that can be consumed at one time.

Many beverages base their nutrition information on a traditional 8 oz serving no matter how large the container. Both Coca-Cola’s North American division and PepsiCo’s Pepsi-Cola division announced that next year labels for their 20 oz bottles will contain nutrition information for the entire container, as well as for an 8 oz serving. The new labels will be phased in as existing label inventories are used up.
