How color is used (sidebar)

Besides container shape and a shrink label, Chapin International uses color to create a contemporary brand for its namesake line of lawn and garden sprayers.

The sprayers are gray with a copper lid.

The shrink labels on the containers carry a green band in the neck area of the container to identify the Spray-It line and copper to signal the Spray ’n Go line.

But those aren’t the only colors. Chapin’s alliances with private-label customers sometimes dictate the color palate. Chapin’s Chuck Mattes explains that some use Chapin’s brand colors and others use their own. “We will supply our national retailers with private-label brands at their request,” he says.

For example, when Chapin supplies sprayers to Ace Hardware stores under the Ace Hardware retailer brand name, the color scheme is Ace’s familiar red and white.
