CIWMB’s plastics staff had proposed eight modifications in a recent advisory committee meeting, according to a bulletin from State Recycling Laws Update, published by Raymond Communications, Columbia, MD. One proposal by John Nuffer would permit companies more flexibility for meeting the recycled-content mandate. He also asked for compliance alternatives for companies that have technical difficulties in using recycled content. Along with the industry-friendly recommendations, Nuffer also seeks closing of the “loophole” on reclosable clamshell containers, and he seeks additional authority to make reluctant companies respond to CIWMB requests.
