Barrier/oxygen scavenger resins

The Valspar Corp.

released its new family of barrier/oxygen scavenger resins called ValOR. Resins have the capability of either (or both) active and passive barrier enhancement of PET. The resins can be used as a passive barrier/oxygen scavenger layer in a multilayer container or alternatively blended with PET to produce relatively clear monolayer PET containers. It is less prone to delamination than other barrier resins usually used in multilayer PET structures, company says. There are various grades of ValOR available.

This new family of barrier/oxygen scavenger resins will be formally introduced at Nova-Pack Americas 2006. Sponsored by Schotland Business Research, the Nova-Pack conference will take place February 5-7 at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, FL.
