Bosch Rexroth Corp., Electric Drives and Controls: Bosch Rexroth Corp., Electric Drives and Controls: Bosch Rexroth Corp., Electric Drives and Controls: Wrapper saves costs

Rexroth Indramat’s (Hoffman Estates, IL) new PPC (Combined Motion & Logic Controller) eliminates the need for a separate PLC on horizontal form/fill/seal machines from AmeriPak (Warrington, PA).

The design also saves the cost of a high-performance industrial PC while retaining open architecture communications including a SERCOS digital drive network.

Onboard the wrapper, a touchscreen HMI replaces a traditional control panel, while the 3-axis flow wrapper uses servos on the main lug conveyor, end crimper/knife assembly, and fin-seal assembly drives. Advanced built-in functionality provides no-gap, no-seal and no-product, no-wrap features. A machine is shipping to AmeriPak’s lead customer as this issue goes to press.
