Revised Packaging Machinery Standard Available

A revised ANSI/B155.1-2006 safety standard for packaging and packaging-related converting machinery was published by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (www.pmmi.org).

Approved as an American National Standard, the revision is harmonized with the international (ISO) and European (EN) standards by the introduction of hazard identification and risk assessment as the principal method for analyzing hazards to personnel and achieving acceptable risk. The requirements of this standard apply to new, modified, or rebuilt industrial and commercial machinery that performs packaging functions for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging. The safety standard is available for $65 on www.pmmi.org, or by contacting Fred Hayes at [email protected], or call 888/275-7664. For more on B155.1, see p. 76
