Graco Electric Diaphragm Pump Cuts Energy Use by Up to 80%

Graco’s Quantm replaces traditional compressed-air operation with an electric motor, which reduces energy use, simplifies operation, and supports PLC integration.

Hi, my name is Jeff Shaffer.

I'm the sales director for Graco on our process manufacturing equipment, and today we're gonna talk to you a little bit about Quantm, our new electric diaphragm pump.

Diaphragm pumps in the industry have historically been pneumatic driven via a compressed air source, and Graco has revolutionized that pump technology by inputting an electric motor into the middle of it.

One of the main benefits of that is you reduce your energy consumption by up to 80%. So we're a more sustainable option. We can provide a return on investment for users who are using a large amount of compressed air on their diaphragm pump operation.

We play in a lot of markets like food processing, paint manufacturing, pulp and paper corrugated, and chemical manufacturing.

All of those industries rely on diaphragm pumps for their processes. They're using them a lot. Pumps will operate 24/5, 24/7, and there's a huge amount of return.

One of the other big benefits to the electric pump design is it really simplifies the operation process. We can control the pump right on the front of the control here, which is integrated into the pump. It's much quieter for plants, so we reduce that large noise. There's a lot of safety factors as well.

But plants today are trying to automate. Workers are harder to come by. Manual labor is getting harder to come by. This you can now integrate directly to a PLC. You can plug in controls right in the front of this pump, hook up level sensors, PLC controls, remote start stops, 4 to 20 million controls to control the pump.

And you can do a lot more with it and actually monitor what's going on in your process compared to the pneumatic pumps, which are historically, I'll say dumb pumps.

If you'd like to learn any more about the Quantm technology or if you'd like to test one in your facility, go to graco.com.

We have all kinds of information.

We actually have an ROI calculator where you can input your operating parameters and see how much money you'd save in operating your pump electrically versus pneumatic right on our website, and then we can get a Graco person in contact with you.
