Pharma Technology Inc. (PTI), a manufacturer of tablet dedusters and capsule polishers combined with metal detectors and loading systems for pharmaceutical solid dose production, will showcase two machines at Supply Side West Booth #11055, November 14-15 in Las Vegas. The capsule polisher and the other a tablet deduster will be on display featuring metal detection systems from CEIA and Lock Inspection, respectively.

One machine is the new PTG-V 1200 Vertical Capsule Polisher/Deduster, which handles capsules ranging in size from T4 to T00 at speeds from 220,000 to 500,000/hr, depending on capsule size. The machine is fully mobile, offers quick tool-free dismantling and reassembly, and occupies minimal floor space. The PTG-V 1200 also can be dismounted without tooling, and cleaned via ultrasonic wave bath.

A polyamide/nylon rotary screw endless brush achieves polishing of scratches and blemishes on the capsule surface inside a 316-l stainless-steel cylindrical section.  Suction stitches drilled throughout the length of the uphill conveying stainless tube also allow powder excess to be thoroughly removed through a shrouded dust extraction connection. This vertical height-gaining design of the polisher part allows space for a metal detector and empty capsule sorter mounted on the same base, making the unit a three-in-one device.

In addition to a metal detection system from CEIA, the PTG-V 1200 model will be equipped with an empty capsule eliminator device (ECE). This guarantees that production is completely devoid of empty or broken capsules.

Pharma Technology Inc. also will display a EconoFlex Vertical Deduster that demonstrates the company’s next-generation PharmaFlex dedusting concept, whereby the concurrent flow of tablets and dust extraction improves process times and yields. Suitable for the dedusting and deburring of all tablet types, the EconoFlex features adjustable vibration that leads to product ascension up a specially designed spiral composed of high pressure molded polymer approved for pharmaceutical use.

EconoFlex can handle 400,000 to two million tablets/hr, depending on tablet size and shape. The machine’s spiral is dismountable by segments, and cleanup is easy and tool-free. The machine also meets high GMP standards and operates at a non-intrusive maximum noise level of 72 decibels.
