Slim-Fast drinks recalled

11-oz steel cans of Slim-Fast drinks made by Unilever may be tainted by the micro-organism Bacillus cereus, so Unilever has issued a recall for some 10 million cans distributed in North America.

According to foodproductiondaily.com, the cans are in paperboard carriers containing four, six, or 12 per carrier. But some of the cans in question were also sold as individual units, depending on the retail outlet. Food contaminated with the Bacillus cereus may not smell or look bad. Symptoms include vomiting or diarrhea. “The probabllity of serious adverse health consequences are remote,” said a Unilever statement.
