Water works

Some folks in Suffolk County, NY, want to know more about what’s in their bottled water. A resolution was submitted to the county legislature calling for all bottled water sold in Suffolk County to bear a label listing the organic and inorganic chemicals, and the radiological, biological, and other contaminants in the water.

The Grocery Manufacturers of America sent a letter opposing the resolution, noting that the requirements run counter to existing FDA regulations. If the resolution is passed, all bottled water companies selling product in Suffolk County would be subject to unnecessary, costly, and burdensome state requirements.
