Congress has picked up the pace on FDA reform, with legislation moving in both the House and Senate. Strongly backed by food manufacturers is language in the Senate bill providing that health claims on food labels would be presumed to be authorized if the claim is based on, and consistent with, findings of a federal health agency or of the National Academy of Sciences.

Last month, Belmont, CA-based Oral-B Laboratories introduced a line of collectible tooth brushes and pastes branded with children's cable television network Nickelodeon(TM) and its hit show, "Rugrats." Designed by Kornick Lindsay (Chicago, IL), the colorful packaging/product is part of "a strategic partnership between Oral-B and Nickelodeon in which the packaging helps fight the battle to get kids to brush and make it a better experience," says Sheree Lucas, Oral-B product manager.
