GROWTH EXPECTED FOR COSMETIC CONTAINERS

U.S. demand for these containers is projected to rise 2.6% annually to 24.7 billion units by 2009 according to Cosmetic & Toiletry Chemicals, a new study from The Freedonia Group.

In dollar terms, sales will climb 4.7% yearly to $3.8 billion by 2009. Plastics will lead growth in this category, in both units and value, “while below-average prospects are anticipated for paperboard, glass, and metal cosmetic and toiletry containers as a result of market maturity and competitive drawbacks.” Hair care, skin care, and oral hygiene were the three largest markets last year. Skin care and liquid soaps are forecasted to bring the fastest growth through 2009. For more information, call 440/684-9600, or visit www.freedoniagroup.com.
